Lotte New York Palace

Midtown, New York

Virgin rating

The hotel

Railroad magnate Henry Villard's 19th-century mansions were combined with a sleek tower to create one of the city's best hotels. It's a place where the staff greet you as if they have known you all their lives, and nothing is too much trouble. The location is one of the best in Manhattan, right in the middle of Midtown, but hidden away in a gated courtyard. There's dining options suited to all at the Lotte New York Palace, from luxury brunch to baked goods, whatever you opt for you'll be in for a treat. Enjoy handmade cocktails in one of Manhattan's most popular bars, Trouble's Trust, or relax in 19th century-style surroundings in Rarities - either make for the perfect post-day-in-the-city tipples.

I fully understand New York December or anytime is not cheap… I’m from London and get this…. From the check in at The Lotte which was dreadful barely acknowledged by check in clerk , to battling to jump on the elevator to room because the main hotel was just to packed , again I will highlight New York December Christmas busy and expensive and whilst I accept people want to see hotel decorations and tree it felt like the paying resident was not considered. Social Media influencers especially should be dealt with by the hotel, particularly when I was told not asked to get out of the way as “I’m doing a reel” I greeted this with a traditional London greeting. The room not bad bit dated stunning view and clean WiFi $16.95 a day…. Five star a very significant fee per night WiFi should be free as there should be facilities to make a in room coffee, not having to go downstairs to a cafe that by the way closed at 5pm. Location superb not question, concierge great Reception check dreadful A grand building and location alone does not make a five star hotel it is the other factors of which this is lacking in a large number of areas Read less

Incredibly crowded with non guests. Difficulty getting reservations for breakfast in the hotel. Beautifully decorated for Christmas with great staff

its a beautiful and historic hotel BUT-- Be forewarned-- you have to reserve breakfast in advance-- even if it comes with your room as a credit. And bring your own bottled water if you are going to work out in the gym. There is a water cooler, but NO bottled water to drink while you are exercising.
