The hotel

Fancy staying somewhere that has been the home to a number of several Hollywood celebrities, most notably Marilyn Monrow? Look no further. A hote that has heaps of history, jazz-inspired decoration, and a central location to suit all New York visitors - the Lexington dates back to 1929, and the marble lobby may have been modernized, but it's all got it's original structure. Here you're just a stones throw from the glitzy shops of 5th Avenue, and even closer to the iconic Grand Central Station. From Standard Rooms to more spacious suites, you'll be comfortable whichever you opt for. and with Starbucks coffee available in the lobby, and a classic cocktail list at the Stayton, you'll not go thirsty whilst you're here either.

I have tried to get in touch with hotel management multiple times following my reservation at this location regarding this concern and am not successful. Horrible customer service and follow through with legitimate concerns. I booked a trip with my mom and sister to experience NYC. I have a friend who recommended the Lexington, so we booked. We arrived, got to our room (1509) and I always check the sheets first thing when staying anywhere. Lo and behold, bed bugs! We immediately went to the front desk and spoke to the front desk manager, Plachett. She apologized, was going to call an exterminator and offered us free breakfast and a new room. She said she would keep us updated on the status of the exterminator and the report per NYS law. I booked through a 3rd party (my credit card company) so she couldn’t comp my stay or refund. We got the new room and were waiting for her to contact us on the status of the exterminators findings as she said she would. Fast forward 5 hours. We are out and about and have now missed half our day due to this situation. We were completely grossed out and frazzled. I called the hotel and was put through to a voicemail for Plachett. No return call after leaving a message. I returned a couple hours later to the front desk and she was standing there. She had no information and had to call someone to see if an exterminator even came. She ‘didn’t have access to the report’ and couldn’t give me any information. I voiced my disappointment that I was not contacted or any return call after leaving a message. She highlighted that I was not an exterminator and they were ‘alleged bed bugs’. I was so dumbfounded by the lack of customer service, communication and urgency by the front desk manager. We ended up checking out and she told me I needed to contact the 3rd party agent to get a refund. That was 1/17. Was also told they would be in communication regarding the exterminator report which they wouldn’t have access to until Monday (1/20). Today is 1/26 and I have heard nothing from anyone. I have tried multiple times calling and emailing, leaving voicemails for hotel management with zero success. I have gone through my credit card company who tried contacting this hotel property for over an hour and a half regarding a refund. They finally got through to someone who said ‘Plachett is not here today and there is no manager who is willing to take on this case’. Since 1/17, I have spent hours trying to get this resolved. We didn’t spend one night there and have yet to get a refund of our stay (charged for 3 nights, my original booking). I have also yet to hear from the hospital regarding the ‘investigation’ for bed bugs and their exterminator report which is required by NYS law. I have never had such a poor experience and am dumbfounded and appalled. We ended up staying at a different hotel nearby and the experience was far superior to that of the Lexington. Read less

I stay at this hotel regularly on business. Staff are very friendly and attentive. To acknowledge my birthday, Dalma (front desk) and Kenny (kitchen) sent up a bottle of champagne for my to enjoy! What a treat. I look forward to my next visit.

The Lexington is a well placed hoterl within 2 mts walk from Grand Central Station. The lobby is what I expected - a grandiose high ceilings fancy restaurants and bars and seating areas. However, the rooms especially the standard bedrooms and nothing particularly special. Some of them are actually quite old and in need of renovation and it feels like a usual Marriott hotel just in the middle of New York. The basement has an excellent fitness centre with machines catering for all needs of fitness that you might imagine. The bar is relatively small and the drinks very expensive….the breakfast area is in the bar which also makes it relatively small with a very average breakfast for such an expensive hotel. All the Lexington is a fine place to stay but somehow disappointing considering the reputation it holds. Read less
