It was only overnight and was not a suite, but the two small closets were interesting. Having two separate small bathrooms in the same room was very interesting and the bathtub and sink styles were old and interesting (the sink more than the tub). Everything was very clean, the linen well done, all the accoutrements for the room were modern, plenty of light and electric outlets. The entrance to our room was down a narrow short hall off the main hall with a door at a 45 degree angle, also interesting. The banks of elevators were all fast, not too long a wait for them to arrive. The staff was pleasant, clearly professional, and in uniform. The walk to the theater district was also not bad. Really, just about 15 minutes down the short blocks. Madison Square Garden is almost across the street. Times Square is less than 15 minutes away on foot, Empire State Building a couple blocks away, and Rockefeller Center not far either. The best part was that it's a Wyndham property, so we can stay there for free and, after all, it's The New Yorker. We'll, almost, certainly, be back Read less

This was by far the most dirty hotel I've ever stayed at and I do travel frequently. I understand the room could be old, but the amount of dust everywhere, hair on towels, etc., it was beyond. Also, the bathroom window had some issues, so the bathroom was cold all the time and after shower it was steamed for hours as there was no good ventilation.… Read more

Also, the bathroom window had some issues, so the bathroom was cold all the time and after shower it was steamed for hours as there was no good ventilation. The furnitures were broken too - example desk chair. And this was a second room we were offered, after the first one had not heating and safe working. The staff was rude too (except the gentleman who checked us in) - example the staff in the lobby checking the cards before elevator - they yell at you when you forget to show the card. The check out lady after I asked for the invoice told me it's booking only and she can't help me. Now when I contacted booking they told me it must be the hotel - I contacted them multiple times and there is no reply. Basically they refused to give me invoice I need for expenses. Read less

We recently stayed at the New Yorker hotel in New York, and having stayed there twice in the past were very much looking forward to it. I am a full time wheelchair user and had booked a wheelchair accessible room. We were allocated room number 3332. This room (in my opinion) should not be advertised as a wheelchair accessible room. This is factored mainly on the bathroom. The height of the sink in the bathroom is approximately 36 inches high, but the problem is the actual sink basin is embedded in a marble work surface with the basin itself being approximately 6 inches further back. This means that if you are sat in a wheelchair, trying to use the sink to either wash your face or brush your teeth it is very difficult to do. Water ends up going everywhere apart from in the sink. Also, the walk in shower is very poorly designed. There is a shower seat to sit on but it doesn't have a proper back rest so there is very little support. But the main issue with the shower is that the seat is at one end while the shower head and all the controls are on the opposite side, meaning that if you are sat on the seat you cannot access the controls. You would have to have someone else there in the shower to help you. As I have already said, this was the third time we had stayed at the New Yorker, but sadly I won't be staying there again for fear of getting allocated the same room, nor would I feel comfortable about recommending the hotel to other wheelchair users. I must add that the hotel (apart from room 3332) is great and the staff very friendly and very helpful. Read less
