Soho and Tribeca, New York

Virgin rating

The hotel

The Roxy Hotel Tribeca is located on the border of SoHo and TriBeCa, two of downtown’s most affluent residential neighbourhoods, where cobblestone streets and historic cast iron buildings give way to the most exclusive boutiques, restaurants, and galleries. The Hotel’s triangular shape gives the property its inimitability, most evident in its interior’s soaring eight-story atrium. The expansive Church Lounge with low-lying furniture is an ideal place to lounge, meet, or work by day and the perfect place for cocktails with friends at night, and nightly shows at the Django cellar club, as well as the art deco cinema, are sure to keep you entertained.

The assistant front office manager, Roger B, was incredibly condescending and misogynistic. I can’t remember any other time where I was spoken to in such a rude manner, especially as a hotel guest! The assistant front office manager, Roger B, was incredibly condescending and misogynistic. I can’t remember any other time where I was spoken to in such a rude manner, especially as a hotel guest! He certainly has a thing or two to learn about customer service. The bellhops on the other hand, were fantastic. Every single one of them went out of their way for us. They were kind, polite, and accommodating. The hotel is noisy - as each of the rooms faces out to the rotunda where the hotel restaurant plays loud music until late into the night. Bring white noise and/or earplugs if you want to get to sleep at a decent hour. The beds were comfortable and the rooms were clean. The design aesthetic was a bit gimmicky and just very, very brown. If you’re looking for a “luxury” hotel this isn’t it. Excellent location walkable to some amazing neighborhoods. Read less
