Image of the Tripadvisor rating GREAT LOCATION AND FRONT DESK PERSONNEL WERE AWESOME 👍

We just returned after a 4 night stay with our Sunrise Tour group. It was an excellent hotel with maid service every day. We even ate left overs and she cleaned the dishes for us the next day. Everyone at the front desk was AMAZING and Jett called a cab for me and told the driver exactly where to drop me off. Great location with Fairway Market… Read more

Great location within walking distance of a subway on 72nd st. Hotel room desperately needs an upgrade, and cleaning needs to be addressed. We stayed for 5 nights and our room was not hoovered, bins were changed and towels replaced along with kitchen crockery but no other cleaning took place. Kitchen worktop was not wiped over, bathroom sink was not clean smears on bathroom mirror. The shower in our room could not be adjusted and it’s difficult to shower with the water pressure (full force), heater isn’t the best either pumping out hot air or cold air. Cracked bathroom and kitchen tiles, bath also looked marked and time to be replaced. No wardrobe just a cupboard with no light which also houses the ironing board and safe. Impossible to see the safe without a torch. Cupboard looked dark and dingy so lived out of our suitcases. Room is very dark with no ceiling lights only lamps. No restaurant or bar, so hotel doesn’t offer much other than a room and kitchen. Whilst some guests may welcome the addition of a kitchen this layout is similar to a bed sit or student accommodation. We would not return. Apart from a pleasing exterior with its Christmas lights the hotel loses its appeal once you step into the lobby lifts to the accommodation floors. Read less

I want to start this out by saying we have been loyal guests at Hotel Beacon for over 15 years, staying with you at least twice a year for a long weekend, and always recommending you to our family and friends. This visit will most likely be our last. We had a dead cockroach on our kitchen floor for our entire stay (it was there when we checked in. While the room was cleaned daily, none of the maid staff could be bothered to remove it. We did not mention it to management while we stayed as I wanted to see if anyone would take care of it. The rooms are WAY WAY WAY past due for renovations, the furniture is tired and incredibly uncomfortable, mattresses are at end of life, and it seems each time we visit there is less and less in the rooms. A few years a ago the sheers covering the windows disappeared, during COVID the cushions/pillows for the furniture disappeared, during this last visit the coffee table was gone. And what the hell happened to the Beacon Bar? It was understandably closed during COVID and never re-opened - such a waste. We keep hearing renovations are going to start (been hearing this for years now), but so far not seen any evidence or announcements to the fact, but, we are hoping you start soon as we have always loved staying at the Beacon. Unfortunately, we just paid $750 a night for a room that should be half that (at best) - more like $825 a night when you include taxes and fees. I really feel like we are entitled to some compensation, but don't expect anyone actually will read this and act upon it. In light of the fact that that the rooms are in such poor condition, I'm not sure we will return until we hear you've made an effort to improve things. You are more than welcome to call or email me should you like to discuss this with me. Read less

Lovely comfy beds, spotless room, small kitchenette with a coffee machine that actually made great coffee. The room had everything we needed for a great stay. From our room on the 9th floor you could hear no street noise at all. All the staff we met were just so friendly. The location is perfect as it is in a quiet area but just a couple of minutes walk to the Subway. There is a great supermarket just opposite the hotel and Central Park is just a short walk away. An extra bonus is Levains Bakery is only a couple of minutes away and the cookies are just to die for and the best we have ever tasted. We have no hesitation in recommending the hotel and the location and a huge thank you to the whole team at The Beacon for helping create special memories on what was a father and daughter trip of a lifetime :-) Read less

A wonderful gem! My daughters and I went to NYC to see several Broadway shows and enjoy fall in NYC. Hotel Beacon did not disappoint (it also set completely unrealistic expectations for my girls who want to move to NYC now). The location is perfect- a 40 minute Uber/Lyft from LGA. It's nested among the wide and quiet streets of the Upper West Side. About a 10 minute walk to Central Park and all the food you could reasonably want to eat was a quick walk or subway ride away. The hotel is older, but do not let that dissuade you- it is charming. The kitchenette- fridge, sink, microwave was perfect. We grabbed snacks and drinks from the Fairway Market across the street and were set for our 4 day stay. Room was clean, quiet, comfortable and most importantly the location was perfect. The staff- Luke in particular was welcoming and everyone was so kind and genuinely made us feel at home. We will be back! Read less
