Our stay here was fantastic! Early and easy check-in. Convenient location near 6th street. Celebrated our anniversary, and were gifted some treats which was such a nice surprise and made it extra special. Very clean and lovely city aesthetic. Be aware that rooms are tiny and street view rooms can be quite noisy due to the commotion on 6th street. That was the only complaint- but they did provide complimentary earplugs on the nightstand, which helped! We most definitely will be staying again, and may stay at the Thompson next time to check it out. Read less

I would love to return and highly reccomend. The Tommie is perfect for the business traveller looking for an authentic, intentional slice of Austin. Read less

The tommie is decorated in trendy decor found in most boutique hotels. A stripped down decor scheme in the tiny rooms feels Spartan, especially with the toilet in the shower. A "pool view" room means you're directly over the bar which blasts music till 2 am, but at least they give you ear plugs and explain that "6th street (a block away) never sleeps". They gave out cute little guitar pick drink tokens at check-in (but only for some members of our party) and we never did find where to cash those in as the bar and the restaurant both said they didn't know what they were. The elevators are the slowest of any that we have ever experience. We routinely needed 5 or more minutes to get down to the lobby on an empty elevator. The restaurant continues the theme of trendy decor, but the food is mediocre. Texans loving their Velveeta queso will adore it. We all really enjoyed the guacamole though. Pomegranate seeds were an interesting and delightful addition. We lost our will to converse shouting over the music and did not repeat order any drinks as they were full of trendy ingredients but weren't particularly delicous. Conference room was nice, comfortable, and quiet. Our attendants were all kind, efficient, and undisruptive. We enjoyed the Turkish tea immensely as well as the mushroom soup. Those with allergens in our party enjoyed the variety of vegan dishes available. On our second day, the milk was not changed in our conference room which our attendant apologized for and quickly replaced, the tea was not refilled, and the cups were not replaced. The lids didn't fit the cups and there was lipstick on the glassware. We had to find silverware and other conferences were pulling food from our tables. The rooms left a lot to be desired. They are tiny. A King room with a pool view would have been difficult for anyone of a larger body size to navigate and could not be used for someone with assistive devices for disabilities. My room sheets had small rips in them and a fake fingernail on the floor. My boss had to call maintenance as the sink didn't drain in her room. Another party had to call because the air in her room was broken. Overall, I would choose a different hotel for my next stay in Austin. There are cheaper hotels with a much more luxurious environment in my experience. Location is not a plus unless you're there to celebrate your 21st with a binge-drinking experience and don't mind wading through the indigent population for a block or two to get to a decent bar and sleep well to the sounds of sirens going off at all hours. This hotel is newish with a nice lobby and good staff. The trouble is the rooms are way too small. There is no desk or work space. The bathroom sink is in the main room and it’s impossible for two people to open suitcases in the room. Might be okay for one person but its uncomfortable for rwo.

Nice hotel. Rooms are small but comfortable. Nice location. Restaurants were good as hotel restaurants go. Nothing outstanding. Elevators were very slow. AC/Heat seemed to be on constantly regulating the temperature. Temp. was fine but the sound was a bit annoying. Otherwise good stay.
