The 12 nights that we spent at Le Méridien was the best holiday that we have ever had…and we travel a lot! We came to the Maldives for the snorkelling; the variety and accessibility exceeds anywhere else that we have visited. Le Méridien has a super house reef, best seen behind the island. It’s accessible from the main beach or a sneak down the service jetty and a 50m swim from the small islet. The ease of finding your depth far from the shore is reassuring for novices, but deeper water is also easily reached. In short, everything that we came to see was there and in abundance. Even off the terrace of our villa we swam with many fish, sharks, rays and turtles. The gym is extremely well equipped and the beach yoga classes are very good. Buggies circulate efficiently on WhatsApp demand, but we found walking the trail, the main beach and isolated beaches a perfect way to really get to know the place. However, it is as you enter the bars and restaurants that the real difference is felt. The food in all of the 4 restaurants is consistently very, very good. There are some dishes that are truly excellent - try the lava cake with guava and Maldivian chilli sorbet! The quality of ingredients is clear; the meat dishes are some of the best that I have eaten. The fish and seafood are of course so fresh and expertly prepared and presented. The leafy salads come from the hydroponic green houses and burst with flavour and freshness. The menus change in each of the restaurants from lunch to evening and we did not exhaust all that we wanted to try even after 12 nights! But, as with many holidays, it is the staff that set this place firmly in our hearts. It is clear why the Marriott group is considered the best in the world. The leadership team were just exceptional; accessible to the guests and their staff alike. They worked alongside their personnel offering guidance and kind words. The head chef, head of food and beverage, sous chefs and other key people were at every service and they made every effort to ensure everything, absolutely everything was perfect. So, in no particular order, our thanks to these people, but we’ve surely forgotten some! Lita, Xanyf, Yusuf, Evi, Erma, Xavi, Rishab, Vishu, Nasheth, Mobassir, Amir, Aappaa, Jayanta, Sanaa in the restaurants and bars. Mahil, Sami, Aysha and Azad for the amazing service in the room and wonderful surprises of petal filles baths. Ari in the gym and for the yoga. The leadership team of Asaf, Choris, Pradeep who made our stay incredible everywhere. Read less

We preferred Riviera for the proximity to the beach, the quietness and the unique setting. The sound of the waves at dinner was a big bonus. Special thanks to, Chef Arvind for preparing a delicious last meal. Xanii for the creative table art. Lita and team for the excellent service. Chef Pradeep for sharing his chilled beet-root recipe. Devan and team for preparing the spicy green peas at breakfast. We would certainly recommend/return. Read less

The water pool villa has very nice view. We spent all day for swimming in front of the villa. We can see many kinds of fishes, stingrays and coral under the shallow water. Thank you Ali from Le Meridien team for his support! Will come back to Maldives soon.

Food is good, especially has chinese and Indian varieties, they are reasonably tasteful and priced. Our friend Ali Omar has been very very helpful on our requests (especially some small requests) and very responsive. Thank you! Also Pyng at the dive center, she took our family to a snorkeling lesson and dolphin cruise, we see both sharks and turtles and tons of dolphins, which was a surprise to us. And it feels to me. They’re more like friends than staff. Read less

Our family spent 5 nights here during the X'mas holiday when the resort was in full capacity. Regardless, we didn't feel crowded in the pool, on the beach or in the restaurants. In fact, we bumped into more staff members than guests on the island. We later discovered the staff to guest ratio is almost 1:1 as the resort prepared for the busiest time of the year. Big kudos to the GM Mr. Schult and his outstanding team in delivering world class service to us. We chatted with the Executive Sous Chef Muthu several times during our stay. We truly appreciated his thoughtfulness in preparing the special meal for my picky kid. You can tell how much time he spends to ensure high food quality at all the restaurants and make sure the guests are satisfied after each meal. We'd particularly like to thank Erma at Turquoise for treating us like her family. My daughter misses her so much and we hope to see her next time when we come back. + Pre-check in email communications was prompt and effective. The team spent time to answer my questions back and forth. This trip was to celebrate our 15 years anniversary. As expected, they prepared a cake and champagne in the room for us. We just didn't expect that they also had juice, chocolates and dessert for our kid. + We stayed in the sunrise overwater villa on the west jetty which is closer to the house reef. Water was calm during our stay. We saw different marine animals from our villa including sea turtles, rays, variety of fish, etc. Our villa was further away from the island, but we didn't find any problems getting their buggy service. You just need to call them ahead of time, like 15 mins. + We tried out all the restaurants except Tabemasu. Food quality was so good that we started out with half board for two days, then upgraded to full board for the remaining of our stay. Velaa and Turquoise are our favorite. You will have to make reservations for dinner. The staff are all happy to arrange that for you. + We highly recommended the Sunset Dolphin Cruise where a large dolphin pod (maybe 200 dolphins?) playing and swimming around your boat. Very impressive and amazing. We also learned a lot from crew member Lalu about their habitat and the uniqueness of the Maldives in enriching marine life. + We didn't spend much time in the Kids Club but big shoutouts to Sandy for her introduction. They have wonderful activities throughout the day if parents want to take a break. + Staff at the Marine Center were friendly and informative. Besides picking up the adult snorkel gears, you can also pick up kid size life jackets and snorkel gears. They are free of charge; you just need to return them when you check out. + We also highly recommended taking advantage of their complimentary 30-min photo session. It comes with one free printed photo. We opted for the $210 package to get 20 photos on a USB with 3 printed photos to bring home. I can hardly think of any cons about this resort. As a first timer to the Maldives, it perfectly fitted our needs and exceeded our expectations in every aspect. We are planning to go back for sure. Read less
