Using minimalism to maximum effect, the sculptural ice-white architecture and matching monochrome interiors of Óleo Cancún Playa give it a calm chicness that’s a far cry from the buzz and colour of your setting — right at the start of the famously vibrant Cancún Hotel Zone. The dedication to ‘white’ is only really interrupted by flashes of blue — homage to the sea and surf just steps from the hotel. Overlooking the beach, the infinity pool adds a touch more turquoise, with the pool bar’s tropical-inspired cocktails adding their own shots of colour. The styling may be minimalist, but the features aren’t. You’ve got spa treatments, complimentary WiFi, an art workshop, and restaurant menus that take you from Japan to Mexico and Peru, with stops on the way for comfort food, international favourites, and bakery treats served up with Starbucks™ coffee.

The best resort that I have ever stayed in. Food was excellent, especially the Japanese restaurant. I really liked the coffee bar with the little pastries and sandwiches.
They made us feel like VIP right from check in until check out.

There's also a adventure and excursion desk in the main lobby to help with our planning.
Also very very nice rooms and hotel. The beach is great and plenty of chairs and umbrellas
Worth every penny . We stayed on the lagoon/street side of the hotel and it was a bit noisy at night ,so bring ear plugs.

Three days in, as an interim review, this is a fantastic resort. This is my first boutique resort but what a place! Beautiful views and wonderful staff in an all inclusive hotel. There is a small entrainment team that aren’t overwhelming and the standard all inclusive drinks include international spirits. We are here for a 60th birthday and are having an amazing time having come from England. I will do a full review at the end of the tip but so far you won’t regret the trip. In summary- amazing restaurants (including sushi), fantastic bars and the best staff you will encounter. What an amazing first time in Mexico!

The Hakka Restaurant
Jan 28, 2025Brendan C
We had a wonderful experience all week. Highlight of our stay was the Hakka Restaurant. We dined there on five occasions due to the excellent food but also because of the outstanding attention given by Esteban, Marcellino and Crispin. Their attention to detail was exceptional. Should you stay in the Oleo, do not miss out … go dine there!
Safe bet at price point

Staff was lovely and very responsive overall. Noted building aging but well maintained. Each day between 5-6 pm we did not have hot water in our shower.; worked fine other times of day. Meals were adequate with sufficient variety. Beach was lovely. We did not have a room with balcony which was unfortunate.
