Probably one of the smallest hotel rooms I've ever stayed at in the US. Reminds me of the hotel rooms in Europe. Bed is pushed up against the wall with the window, so getting out of it can be a challenge for those over 50. Bed is pushed up against the wall with the window, so getting out of it can be a challenge for those over 50. Thermostat was locked, so we couldn't adjust the temperature of the room, and a call to the front desk was of no help. I also couldn't connect to the free wifi. Shower stall doesn't prevent water from spraying on the bathroom floor, and I read other review where that's a real problem if you splurge for a larger room. There is a bar on the top floor, and while I wasn't near it, previous review indicate you won't get any sleep until the bar closes if you room is on one of the upper floors. On the plus side, the location is very close to the theatre district. Read less

Property is great - I have stayed here multiple times and it never disappoints. The staff is professional and friendly. The roof top bar is a great place to enjoy a drink and take in the NYC skyline. The second floor bar is a must if you enjoy quaility jazz.

The restaurant on the 1st floor is amazing as well!! The location is amazing! About two blocks from Times Square and our floor has amazing views of the city. The rooms are rather small but it works because we were only in the room to sleep and shower. My only complaint is the lack of a refrigerator or cooler in our room but I love the beautiful of the hotel. I would definitely stay here again next time I’m in NYC and recommend it to others! My fiancée and I were in New York for a night, and the civilian hotel was the perfect place for a first-time New York visitor! It’s close to lots of desirable destinations, has a great theme / decor scheme going on, and, if going out into the city gets to be too much, the in-house options for food and entertainment are great! Be aware : the rooms are very small compared to a hotel anywhere outside New York, but there are lots of nooks and crannies to store things within each room. Read less
