I recently stayed at the Element New York Times Square West in December 2024. Unfortunately, this was not a good experience. Firstly, this is a hotel with 400+ rooms , approximately 40 floors and only two of the three small elevators were working. One day there was only one elevator working. Each day that we were there it took at least 10 minutes to get to our room from the ground floor. It took at least 20 minutes to get from our room down to the lobby. This was excruciatingly long, especially the day that there was only one elevator working. The room service only came every other day, but we had the option for housekeeping every day. We would sign up for housekeeping on the off day and no one would show up clean our room. Two of the days of our stay the hotel actually ran out of guest towels. The room size left a lot to be desired as I had been in cabins on cruise ships that were bigger than the room that we stayed. One good thing was the hotel served a hot breakfast every morning. Unfortunately, with the elevator issues, however it made it almost impossible to go to the gym for a workout as elevator wait times made this difficult. There are many other good options in New York City. Read less

Breakfast was quite good as it provided a decent breakfast. Location was the highlight of our stay as it was convenient to all the attractions at 42nd Street. We were shocked that the hotel does not provide housekeeping service every day. the reception did not tell us that when we check in. As we were shocked when we came back, and the room was not done. they only provide housekeeping for 2 days only. 3rd day no housekeeping. the shower mixer was not that good either...it's either too hot or too cold. i am surprise the standard of Marriot hotels Read less

I used the Bonvoy app to communicate with the staff and opted for a mobile key. Our room was ready by 9 am EST and I was able to message the hotel from our flight and asked for a lower floor. They were very prompt at replying and were able to put us on the 6th floor. When we arrived, we skipped the long line at reception, went straight to our room and were able to use the mobile key without any issues. Later that evening when there was no line at reception, we asked for physical keys without any issues. We knew ahead of our stay that only 2 elevators were working and only used them twice during our stay to carry luggage in and out. The other times, we used the stairs. Free breakfast was convenient, with a good variety of options and was enough for us and the kids. It was a bit crowded in the dinning area, but we had no issues finding a table for 4 every morning. The location was very convenient and we were able to take the subway everywhere without any issues. Yes, there are homeless people around the area, but we never had any issues walking at night back to the hotel. Lots of pizza options near by and a 7 eleven around the corner. We used the fridge to store water and the kitchen counter for our toiletries. The bathrooms are small, but that just NYC standards. Housekeeping is every other day. We left our room early in the mornings and didn’t return until evening. Our room was made by the time we got back. Overall, we had a good stay. This is by no means a 5 star hotel, so if you align your expectations accordingly and can stay on a lower floor and don’t mind using the stairs, it will be a positive stay. If you’re looking for luxury- stay somewhere else. If you’re looking for a centrally located hotel that offers free breakfast that can accommodate a family of 4, this is a good option. Read less

I stayed at this hotel using Marriott points, and I’m glad I did because if I had paid for the room, I would have been extremely annoyed. I don’t think I would ever stay here again. I stayed at this hotel using Marriott points, and I’m glad I did because if I had paid for the room, I would have been extremely annoyed. I don’t think I would ever stay here again. That said, the staff were super friendly and worked hard under difficult conditions—they definitely deserve a union. The elevator situation was a nightmare. With 400 rooms and only two working elevators, morning waits of 10 to 15 minutes were the norm. We’d press the elevator button, and it would light up, only to have the elevator pass us by. Then the button would turn off and refuse to light again when pressed. One day, we walked down a floor to see if it worked from there—and it did. The "free" breakfast buffet was decent but extremely crowded. It also felt like it wasn’t heated, as you needed to wear a winter coat while dining. On the positive side, the location is close to Broadway theaters, and the rooms are a decent size with equipped kitchens; although the room devotes a lot of space to the kitchen appliances, but no real dresser to store clothes.. One very annoying feature is the light sensor by the front door and bathroom. If anyone goes to the bathroom in the middle of the night, the lights turn on full force—a great way to wake everyone up. My advice: choose someplace else. Read less

I stayed here for a night. It's a fairly new hotel. The room was comfortable a good size by midtown standards. The location is fairly convenient to theaters, an easy .5-1 mile walk.
