The hotel

Boasting some of Las Vegas’ finest rooms and suites after a $380 million dollar transformation, it’s easy to understand why. The accommodation is divided between four majestic towers with wonderful views of the Las Vegas Strip, the Spring Mountains and the hotel’s incredible pool. Then there's the Tank, as the swimming complex is known, comes complete with a shark tank, 3-storey waterslide and 13 private cabanas for hire. There’s also an infinity pool, aptly named The Hideout, which is strictly for adults only. Other temptations include a superb spa with steam rooms, sauna, massage and beauty treatments plus a state-of-the-art fitness centre to work off those American-sized portions! Several restaurants are at your disposal, including Vic and Anthony’s, one of the country’s finest steakhouses. Alternatively, head to Chart House for sumptuous seafood, Red for Pan-Asian cuisine or Grotto for Italian fare. Come sundown, Troy Liquor Bar is the place to be with a lively atmosphere, DJs and exotic cocktails. An incredible hotel with an incredible range of amenities, look out in particular for the Hand of Faith in the lobby - a 61-pound gold nugget found in Australia in 1980 with a metal detector just six inches below ground – now that’s Lady Luck at her finest!

Holy cow! Dealer Amanda at the $5 blackjack table was AMAZING! My husband and I sat down at her table on 12/20 and ended up playing 2 hours because she was so great- professional, knowledgeable, and a BLAST! She kept the drinks coming and the game flowing while making us laugh even when we lost. Truly one of the best in Vegas! Thanks for making a… Read more

Thanks for making a principal in a hideous tiger print shirt and a school teacher just learning the game have such a memorable Freemont Street experience! Read less

For the last 30 years, we have stayed at the Golden Nugget every time we went to Vegas. We used to find it to be a very friendly, clean and well-run hotel. However, this last trip has drastically changed our minds. The desk clerk did a very hard sell trying to get us to upgrade our room and if we didn't, he would charge us $50 for an early check in. The pool, spa and gym were all closed for our entire stay, yet we were still charged the resort fee. Our bathroom floor flooded every time we took a shower. There were multiple cracks in the tub which is probably why this happened. Every time we went to the elevators to go to our room, we had to pass by the desk that is trying to sell shows or tours. They are very aggressive and very rude when you tell them you are not interested. I know I overheard them talking despairingly about some other guests that had turned them down. This made me very uncomfortable. The one bright spot this hotel has is their restaurants. We ate at the Claim Jumper 3 times and at Sawgrass once. We had wonderful food, and the servers were very good. I don't know what has happened with the management of this hotel, but it is obviously gone downhill fast. My family and I will never stay at this hotel again. Read less

Our room had a very strong odor odor cigarette smoke. My wife is allergic to smoke! We requested a room change but was not granted one. Because of being unable to stand the smell of the smoke, we departed our room (after only staying in it for 5 minutes) and booked the Cosmopolitan Hotel. We requested a refund but one was not granted for night… Read more

I booked a suite through Priceline, which sent the correct booking information, but when I arrived at the Golden Nugget, I was told they didn’t have my room. I booked a suite through Priceline, which sent the correct booking information, but when I arrived at the Golden Nugget, I was told they didn’t have my room. Instead, I was downgraded to a basic room with no refund or apology—just a condescending "room type is not guaranteed." If that’s the case, why charge me for a suite in the first place? Adding insult to injury, the check-in process was a nightmare. The line was ridiculously long, taking over 30 minutes, and there was only one check-in advisor at the desk. Meanwhile, the managers on duty—a woman and a young guy—kept coming out, doing absolutely nothing, and then going back into the office. When someone from the line asked the woman manager to help, she responded with, "I'm the manager, I don't check in." Seriously? I used to love coming here. Back in the day, if there was a line, I’d see managers step out from the back to help. Not anymore, apparently. I checked in on Saturday, November 23rd, around 3 PM—if you actually care to hold your managers accountable, that’s when it happened. This experience was a major letdown. The Golden Nugget isn’t what it used to be, and I won’t be back. Save your money and your sanity—book elsewhere. Read less

I would recommend the Rush Tower, the room we had there was very modern and definitely felt like you were staying somewhere newer and swankier. I know everyone is different, but for me Fremont area is where to stay while in Vegas, then take an Uber / Rental to the strip if you want to see things there. People don't realize when you stay at one of the strip properties, you're looking at about a half hour (at least) walk to the next property from your room. I can hit all the casinos on Fremont in the time that it takes to do two or three on the strip. Also a fantastic pool here at the Nugget if you like to partake. Read less
