The Roosevelt is Hollywood's only historic hotel still in operation today. It hosted the first ever Academy Awards in 1929 and has seen throngs of people - including celebrities galore - pass through its doors. The hotel has even been featured in a few films and Shirley Temple took her first tap-dancing lesson on the tiled stairway! As if that's not enough, Montgomery Clift and Marilyn Monroe are reputed to haunt the joint - proof this place is too good to leave!

The Hollywood Roosevelt is a gorgeous historic building, but it is run by a group of disorganized and clueless individuals. I will share a couple of anecdotes from my experiences here:
1. My boyfriend and I did a staycation at the hotel, and he requested a late check out which was an additional $100+ for 2 hours. At the initial checkout time (not the late checkout time he paid for), an employee came knocking at our door aggressively trying to kick us out. My boyfriend told him we have late checkout, and called the front desk who "didn't see that noted". They then double checked and saw that we were indeed noted as a late check out, and had paid the additional fee.
2. My friends and I purchased tickets for the magic show in the library bar. We asked an employee how to get there and they looked at us as though we had two heads. "Library bar? What's that?".
3. To resolve an issue with magic tickets, we flagged the issue to the front desk who guaranteed someone from food and beverage would reach out. No one ever did. A few days later we called the front desk, who transferred the call to reservations, who transferred us back to the front desk and so on and so forth. Once again, disorganized and clueless individuals.
If you like headaches, deciphering riddles, and surrounded by incompetents, this is the place for you!
Now you may be wondering why I didn't rate the roosevelt 1 star. Despite it's lackluster, or rather atrocious service, management, problem solving - the hotel itself is a gem. The history is fascinating and the pool is beautiful - painted by David Hockney himself. If you love hollywood history and architecture it's worth checking out for a drink, but I would not recommend making any reservations. Just play it safe and go to the lobby bar then move on.

Amazing historical property with an equally amazing staff! Highly recommended for anyone looking for a flavor of old Hollywood! We really appreciated Mark taking care or bags and giving us great information. We will definitely be making a trip back in the new year.
The staff are excellent and the pool is incredible!

Priceline lost our reservation. The staff helped us resolve this, upgraded our room for the trouble, and then ensured we had a memorable and positive experience. Each restaurant has its own specific flare, and all of them are delicious. We will stay here again.

This past thanksgiving, 2024, my friend came to visit me in Cali. This was her first time out west, I was scared she wouldn’t be fulfilled. We stopped by to Roosevelt because I had to pee and one of their sercurity officers (Cody M.) was so sweet to allow us to use their bathroom. After the bathroom, he was so kind to show us around a little because my friend knew so much about the history of the hotel. Cody took the time to show us around even though we weren’t even staying there that night. He was the kindest person who gave my friend and I a memory we will never forget. It’s been almost a week after and we are still thinking about the tour and just about how awesome the Hotel and workers were! 20/10! Go go go!!! You will only leave with a better experience!
