Built in 1926, the historic and memorable Mark Hopkins Hotel is a trip down history lane. We have stayed here a number of times, and each stay has been fantastic. This last stay we were fortunate enough to get a corner room and had a gorgeous view of the pier 39 area, as well as the city (Union Square area).
The staff here is excellent --- everyone from the valets to the housekeepers to the front desk staff are fantastic and very personable. We highly recommend Mark Hopkins.

This hotel is one of the worst I’ve had to endure on a biz trip. I’m guessing it was last updated in 1987? I felt bad for the staff the whole time I was there having to cater to people desperate enough to pay money to stay at the Mark Hopkins. Avoid at (any) cost. May it be acquired by someone with taste and money!

It felt relaxing, and comfortable. My room was not remarkable, and they do need an update, but the bed was comfy, shower good.

We stayed in the California Suite at the Mark Hopkins and it was an amazing experience. The suite was spectacular with big windows overlooking Nob Hill. We could see Alcatraz and the Golden Gate Bridge. The suite included a massive great room with a comfortable sofa and seating for at least ten. There was a separate dining room with a large table and chairs and a guest bathroom off of the great room. The first bedroom had two comfy queen beds and a beautiful spacious bathroom. The master bedroom was enormous with a huge bathroom that included a spa tub and a double shower. The suite was immaculate- very clean and pristine. All of the staff at the hotel were helpful and professional. It was a weekend to remember.
