I was able to get an early check-in, drop my luggage in my room and get to my meeting - all before 11am! The bellman and concierge were excellent. It was torrential rain and the bellman was desperately trying to get cabs for several of us. He suggested a quick walk to the MSG for the taxi stand - great idea and I was able to get a taxi in no time. Lots of activity in the lobby, but security at the front of the hotel and in the lobby was very good. I love the art deco lobby. Rooms are small and dated, but they are very functional for my short stay of two nights. Room was very clean, but linens are getting tired and need to be replaced. Other than that, I would highly recommend The New Yorker. Read less

Girls trip with 8 ladies was absolutely made better with the friendly and accommodating staff at the New Yorker. The hotel was in a great location and we all felt secure. Our first encounter was phone contact with Neida who was most amazing at accommodating our request. She kept in touch with us during our stay with restaurant suggestions and offering to make reservations for our group. The hotel has so much character! We ate several times at The Tick Tock Diner. Food and service was amazing. I can say that Neida and the staff at the hotel made our stay even better than we expected! We’ll be back one day!! Read less

Great staff and a great location let down by some really basic things. Our room had two double beds but were really only large singles. The bath enamel was cracked and the paint was bubbling off the wall in the bathroom. There were no tea making facilities and no mini fridge in the room. There are also numerous fees which they charge when you arrive, which are on top of the booking fee. Not saying this is unusual but you should be ready to hand over at least another US$300 to the hotel when you arrive. Finally if you want the hotel to store your bags for a day it's US$5 per bag. Checking in and out of this hotel is the easiest I’ve ever experienced. the TikTok diner breakfast in the hotel with trattorias for dinner and a couple drinks is an awesome option. Rooms are clean. Hotel is a little older, but service, staff, cleanliness are top-notch. We were there December 14

The location is quite literally perfect to get around the whole city by walk or subway. The bed was quite comfortable and the upgrade with a room with a view was worth it in my opinion. The only slight issue was the bathroom being a bit small and have a small toilet seat.
