Very nice hotel within the Nob Hill area. The area itself was clean and safe with a lot of bars and restaurants conveniently within steps of the hotel. Within a stones throw of the hotel there are also a couple of quiet small parks, St. Mary’s Square and Huntington park in either direction of the hotel which allow you to take in the vibes of the city. Upon arrival we were greeted warmly and offered bottles of water and the check in was done smoothly without issue. Each day when walking past the reception the hotel staff were constantly greeting us and were generally friendly each time we encountered them. The room was spacious enough and came with a mini fridge and a seating area. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was split in two sections, the bath/shower and the sink area which allows two people to get ready. The room also allowed you to get a great skyline view of the city. On a clear day you can see the Transamerica Pyramid building and the ocean. There are just a few small things to mention, nothing major but the hotel is in a reasonable location with one thing being that there are cable car stops outside which is a good thing when getting around the city however at night and early in the morning the sound was very much present and quite loud within the room. We noticed it a few times during our stay, luckily we had early mornings and late nights while in San Francisco but if it was the other way around and you were planning on sleeping in or having an early night then this could potentially be a issue. There also seemed to be a Phantom lift at the hotel which may have been fixed by the time of this review but while we were there the right of the 3 lifts had a mind of its own and took us to random floors when we used it both up and down, it seemed to take you to 2 extra floors before reaching the final correct destination. It also randomly liked to keep opening and closing its doors before finally closing it and moving to the reception floor. No other lift did this and we did hear others speak about it in the lobby area. Pretty minimal stuff but was just a little tiresome after a long day in the city. I would certainly recommend this hotel, friendly staff, nice area and decent size rooms. Read less

We stayed in a King room. The room was clean and decently sized, but the bathroom was small. The breakfast was very nice, with many choices, and well organized. It was very close to Pier 39, a 5-minute or less walk. My husband and I would stay again.

This is NOT a 4 1/2 star hotel. The location is very good (Nob Hill) - safe area & walkable to many places. The view from our 8th floor room was amazing and the staff friendly and helpful (especially in the restaurant/bar area.) However, the rooms are VERY sparsely decorated (and I like clean design) - and the accessible room one of our party had was absolutely depressing. The front desk was friendly but their communication & knowledge was marginal. (They told us that the bar was closed at 10:15, yet when we went to check it out, the bartender said they were open until 11:00. ) The restaurant/ bar area was freezing - people were wearing coats to be able to sit there. (The front desk said there was no heat in that area - yet the bartenders told us it was broken. If there's actually no heat, that's crazy - this is not Palm Springs!) The internet was rarely working during our visit - we resorted to using cellular the entire time. On the positive side, the food & drinks at the bar were good & the bartenders were great about recommending wines. The beds were also very comfortable! Read less

Small but intimate hotel. I loved the size of the room and the hotel's location. Will definitely return next time in town. Wish the housekeeping were more clean as I did find hair in the bed and in the bathroom that wasn't mine. I also wish they provided some bottled waters in the room for the convenience sake.
