I booked breakfast, but it was not showing at the restaurant. I was told I needed to go to reception to resolve, reception did resolve, but surely better customer service would be for the restaurant to resolve, rather send me down to reception to sort. Rooftop bar closed Sunday, I was not informed of this. Maybe also make reception aware that breakfast is served on the 4th floor not the 3rd, then guests do not go to the wrong floor. Read less

The customer service was mind blowing! Specifically, Tercelle was a freaking rock star and went above and beyond to ensure my business partners and I were taken care of. In this day and age, customer service is not what it used to be, but Tercelle restored my faith in that. Great job!

You cannot book a hotel in downtown New York and expect a peaceful stay, that’s not the hotel’s fault. You should know what you’re getting and this hotel is no different in that regard, if you’re wanting a relaxing trip stay elsewhere. The first sign that something was amiss was on check-in. It was near freezing outside and the same temperature in the lobby where the full height doors allow what little heat there is inside to escape. It was so cold that the staff were all wearing coats, hats and gloves. They also had a couple of small domestic heaters plugged in but in a space the size of half a basketball court they made absolutely no difference. The check-in itself was painful. I don’t know if the staff member was new but it shouldn’t take 20 minutes to confirm three reservations, all while we were shivering. I suppose the room designer thought they were being clever by putting the bathroom washbasin right inside the room door but it just isn’t right. I’d rather they had put their efforts into designing a decent hot water system so I didn’t have to endure lukewarm showers. The bed was comfortable but sleep wasn’t helped by the full length blinds only reaching 3/4 of the way down the windows and a really noisy refrigerator which I had to unplug in order to sleep. At $580 a night you can do a lot better elsewhere. Read less

We arrived today .. after a 15 hour long haul journey with 2 young children that couldn’t wait to get here. As it’s 1am UK time we settled for room service which the kids were super excited about. What a mistake! The food here is dreadful. Both my children’s meals were returned untouched .. the teeny tiny pizzas were cold, semi raw underneath and looked like no pizza I have ever seen. The spaghetti was stomach churning and returned immediately. The burger .. well look for yourself .. that looked like something not fit for human consumption - and yes that’s exactly how it was presented as shown in the photo. And don’t get me started on the cost of it all. Room service agreed it was unacceptable but not surprised. Yep they have agreed to remove the charge from my bill but I’ll never get these couple of precious hours back with my excited boys. Instead we are going to sleep hungry and disappointed. Just not good enough Virgin Hotels!! @Richard Branson … I dare you to come and eat this food … I’m sure you wouldn’t stand for it. 0/10 so far for the Virgin “Experience” Read less

So disappointed we were looking forward to this on the last night of our NYC visit. We arrived for our 90 minute reservation and were told that we would get a table asap and to go and get a drink at the bar in the meantime. There is a tiny little room (nothing remotely Mariah about it apart from the cardboard cut-out that you would have seen on the booking site (which is outside the bar btw so you could pop up to the 3rd floor and get a pic anyway if you really wanted to) . We waited at the bar for 15mins no sign of the bar tender even looking in our direction so no drink on arrival (or even chance to buy one) no table and not sure how they were taking note of the time slots (answer they weren’t). When we asked how long we were told that the entry is GA and you are not guaranteed one which was misleading even if you did get one it would have been difficult to eat comfortably anyway the room was so small and overcrowded. We left after about 20 mins and went to 230 rooftop bar instead where we had visited earlier in our trip. Go here instead it is a million times better and so christmassy and no wasting £50 for nothing it is free to get in ! Read less
