So my partner and I decided to do a staycation, especially not being too far from our residency at Lower Pac Heights. The hotel is a San Francisco icon and plus a very pet friendly hotel where we brought our little baby beagle with us. The hotel was able to meet all my accommodations requests and the front desk member who checked me in was wonderful to provide all the information the hotel has to offer. Thank you to the front desk team for making our holiday staycation a wonderful one. For anyone who is looking to find an amazing property with outstanding service, friendly staff, and perfect location to everything. The Westin St. Francis is the one to be in. Read less

I am writing to express my profound dissatisfaction with my recent stay at the West St. Francis Hotel in San Francisco. The experience was far below the standards one would expect from such an esteemed establishment, and I feel compelled to detail the issues that led to my severe discontent. Firstly, upon arrival, I was shocked to discover that major construction was underway, resulting in the closure of the hotel's restaurants and bar. At no point during the booking process or before our arrival was this critical information communicated to us. The lack of transparency is unacceptable and significantly detracted from our overall experience. Secondly, the labor strike involving the hotel staff was highly disruptive. The incessant noise and the clear disruption of services were intolerable. Throughout our stay, we struggled to receive basic services, and it was exceedingly difficult to get any assistance when needed. The atmosphere was chaotic, with the overbearing noise upon entering and exiting the hotel each day making our stay highly unpleasant. We nearly checked out on the first day due to these intolerable conditions. Given these circumstances, I will not be staying at the West St. Francis Hotel in the future. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Horrible guest relations and manager

Unacceptable hotel guest services. They simply refused to connect to a guest room when calling. Unacceptable hotel guest services. They simply refused to connect to a guest room when calling. We have guests coming from overseas without cellphone and they simply would refuse to connect even though we have the full reservation info. This makes no sense since just a day earlier another operator was able to connect simply by providing the full name of the guest. What kind of a hotel is this? As a gold elite member simply disappointed at the LACK OF SERVICE and ATTITUDE of employees who simply claimed "he was the manager" (doubt it - what manager just routes phone calls - should be doing more value-add work if he was the manager). Our family has a long-standing tradition of staying at the Westin St. Francis during the holidays, but this year, we were conflicted about returning since the workers were on strike. Unfortunately, we decided to keep the tradition alive, and I wish we had chosen another place instead. While the hotel itself holds a special place in our hearts, the overall experience this year was disappointing. There was a noticeable amount of trash around the premises, which took away from the typically elegant atmosphere. The protesters outside were understandably vocal, but the noise made it hard to relax and enjoy our stay. On top of that, the line to get breakfast in the morning was a frustrating 30-minute wait, which was far from the seamless service we’ve come to expect. We truly love the Westin St. Francis and everything it has meant to our family over the years, but this year’s visit fell short. We hope to return in the future under better circumstances when the labor issues have been resolved. Until then, we’ll likely look for an alternative for our holiday tradition. Read less
Image of the Tripadvisor rating Dont Cross Picket Lines

Dec 16, 2024 AMSKSI Columbus, Ohio

This looked like a lovely hotel unfortunately we decided to cancel last minute and rebook at an independent hotel instead. Workers have been on strike and we will not cross picket lines. It is a shame that the corporation has not resolved this yet, the workers deserve better.
