We just spent a week in the Mediterranean Village. I wish I had read through the previous reviews more carefully. I missed the warning that this resort is not for anyone who has mobility issues. There are many steps to negotiate between the Mediterranean Village towers and the restaurants. I should have noticed the mentions of elevators not working dating to at least two years ago. Neither of the two elevators worked properly while we were there. We did not see anyone trying to do any repair on these elevators. PROS: Beautiful beach location - plenty of chairs and umbrellas Mostly friendly staff Well serviced room maintenance - towels replenished in the evening Excellent evening performances - especially the Antigua cultural show Cafe Paris - fancy coffee drinks and pastries available all day CONS: Pool cabana rental not worth the cost - No one came to take breakfast order or help with setting up the umbrella in front of the cabana Signs of wear and tear neglected - for example: quiet pool in Carribean village Quality of food sometimes not up to expectations - substitutions of pork chop for veal chop in Mario, filet of sole deep fried instead of pan seared in French bistro, Same assortment of pastries in breakfast buffets every Read less

There were a few kind employees but most of them seemed put out. Trying to get a second cocktail at dinner was like pulling teeth. The rooms were dirty. Dirt in every corner. There was a pill under our bed. The bath tub was disgusting. I will say the bed was comfortable. The beach is beautiful. If you don’t have a butler forget getting any service from the resort on the beach. If you do it takes forever. You are better off getting what you want yourself. The locals are very friendly. The people that work on the beach are very sweet. Also the elevators do not work properly. They won’t stop at every floor so you may have to take the stairs a flight or two. The resort overall needs to be updated. This was my first sandals experience and I have to say after this experience I will never stay at a sandals resort again. Read less

The staff in the restaurants border on being rude and are very uninterested in mustering any positivity Our room door would not stay shut . When we left our room it wouldn’t latch - major safety concern They didn’t have enough bartenders anywhere and the pool bartenders had to fight bees ! They had all been stung multiple times and the resort was doing nothing to help them. Everything felt very run down and old. The pool had rusty drains The prices on the spa treatments were insanely high Summary: For the cost this was a massive disappointment. We wont be back to sandals. Read less

This was my first time in Antigua so I can't compare it to other resorts on the island, but I have been to several Sandals resorts. Before I say anything, I want to shout out to Sylvia. She was working at an event I attended and just happened to be in the cafe the next day. She was a wonderful server during the event and also had such a great personality when I was able to talk to her in the cafe. She truly appreciated having customers and people staying there. Now back to the resort! There are some pros and cons to the whole experience here. Location: The beach and ocean are stunning! I've found that many resorts on the island aren't "beachfront" so having this feature is a bonus. Food: Overall, everything is good, but nothing spectacular. I had the buffet for both breakfast and lunch and heard the a la carte restaurants were good too. For dinner, I had the sushi at Soy and Italian Mario's. Once again, just ok - not good, but not bad. I think my favorite feature was the cafe that had ice cream ha! I also liked that by the buffet there was a machine that had self-serve coffee, latte, cappuccino, and hot water dispenser that was good! I also tried the coffee selection at the cafe. However, I was kind of put off by the staff there to ask questions since they seemed more interested in talking to each other. For example, I asked if they had iced coffee, and the staff member just proceeded to make one without asking if I wanted milk, flavor, etc. Since then, I just continued using the machine. The staff was hit or miss. Those working in the Club Lounge and any interactions with the staff from the lounge were great. The waitresses at the Bayside restaurant were always very accommodating. Everyone else just kind of seemed to be going through the motions. Room: I had a club level room called Caribbean Honeymoon Beachfront Grande Luxe Walkout Club Level Room. I am currently looking at the photos on the website and there are a lot of additional decorations in the pictures versus what is really there. The bathroom is very plain. I do also want to mention the cats. There were more cats here than any other resort I've been to. They are very nice, clean, and are taken care of. I even offered a small piece of bacon to one of them when I was walking out of my room after having room service and it didn't want it so they aren't starving! The layout of the resort is easy to get around. No hills. The greenery and floral were beautiful! They take care of the grounds here. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience and might be fabulous for someone who has never been to a Sandals before or experienced an all-inclusive. For me, Read less
